1 C. Crisco solid shortening
1 stick butter or margarine softened
1 tsp vanilla
1 2# bag of powdered sugar
approx. 1/4 C. milk-room temp is best
Recipe
Mix the Crisco and margarine(use butter for whiter icing if you need)
Add in the vanilla and 1/8C. milk and 1/2 of the powdered sugar. Mix well and then add the remaining powdered sugar and more milk if nec.--you want a smooth consistency that would spread easily..but not be so soft as to not hold a peak.
Mix for 10 minutes...this will really add air and make it super silky smooth.
You can then add color to portions of it, can freeze up to 6 months nicely or refrig. for 1 month. Just let come to room temp and add a bit of milk if nec.
