    Cheesy Baked Onions

    6 or 7 Vidalia onions, sliced
    4 ounces sliced fresh mushrooms
    1/2 stick of butter
    1 can Cream of Mushroom soup
    1 cup milk
    Seasoned salt (Nature's Seasons preferred)
    Pepper to taste
    12 ounces shredded Swiss or sharp cheddar cheese, or a mixture
    French Bread, sliced in 1/4 inch thick rounds
    Additional butter, melted
    Parmesan cheese, freshly grated

    Recipe




    Preheat oven to 350°. Cook onions and mushrooms in butter until tender but not browned, about 12 to 15 minutes. Stir occasionally. Place onions in a greased or sprayed baking dish. Combine soup, milk, salt, and pepper and pour over onions and mushrooms. Sprinkle cheese evenly over the top. Brush one side of each bread slice and layer over the cheese, covering entire top of baking dish. Sprinkle lightly with Parmesan cheese. Bake until cheese is melted and bread is browned, about 30 minutes.
