    List of Ingredients


    • 1 cup butter
    • 3/4 cup powdered sugar, divided
    • 1 tsp vanilla
    • 2 cups cake flour
    • 1/4 tsp salt
    • 1/4 tsp baking powder


    Instructions


    1. Cream butter thoroughly
    2. Gradually add 1/2 cup powdered sugar. Beat until mixture is creamy and light
    3. Add vanilla
    4. Sift flour, salt and baking powder together. Stir into above mixture, blending thoroughly
    5. Chill dough
    6. Preheat oven to 350
    7. Roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness.
    8. Cut into squares and prick dough all over with a fork
    9. Cover baking sheet with foil and place cookie squares on it.
    10. Bake until shortbread just begins to colour
    11. Sift remaining powdered sugar over hot cookies.
