Mexican Cheese Biscuits

1/2 cup splenda
1/3 cup butter
1 cup monterey jack cheese -- cheddar, shredded
1 cup flour
can use 50/50 with soy flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 large egg -- beaten
Heat oven to375°F-190°C. Mix splenda and softened butter; stir in cheese. Stir in remaining ingredients except egg. Roll dough by teaspoonsful into sticks, about 3 1/2 by 1/2" - 85-12mm. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Press sticks lightly to flatten. Brush with beaten egg. Bake until light brown around edges only, 8-10 minutes. Immediately remove from sheet and cool on wire racks. These unique cookies are crisp. Yield: about 2 dozen.
