Homemade Sweet Italian Pork Sausage

1 pound ground pork
1 t. black pepper
1 t. salt
2 t. clear corn syrup, thinned with 1 t. cold water
2 T. parsley, fresh or dried
1 T. basil, fresh or dried
1/2 t. oregano, dried
2 dashes nutmeg
1/2 t. garlic, fresh or dried minced
Recipe
Mix everything together well. Form into 6-8 patties and brown on both sides until cooked through. Or just cook crumbled and use in a recipe or as a pizza topper.
For HOT sausage---addt 2 t. paprika, 1 t. crushed fennel seeds, 1 t. dried hot pepper flakes, and increase garlic to 2 t.
You can adjust this recipe to your taste. I personally eliminated the nutmeg and cut the corn syrup in half. My husband loves this and doesn't want the store bought kind anymore :)
