    Don't over mix. be sure the oven is hot.


    List of Ingredients


    • 8 oz self rising flour
    • pinch salt
    • 1 oz butter
    • 1 egg beaten
    • 5 oz buttermilk
    • milk to glaze


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
    2. Sift flour and salt.
    3. Using your fingers incorporate the butter untl it resembles small crumbs.
    4. Make a well in the center and pour in beaten egg and buttermilk.
    5. Mix to form a soft dough, adding a little extra buttemilk if necessary.
    6. Turn out on floured board and roll out to 1 inch thickness.
    7. Cut into 2 inch rounds.
    8. Brush with milk and place on a floured baking sheet.
    9. Bake for 15 -20 minutes until light brown.
