Irish Buttermild Scones

Don't over mix. be sure the oven is hot.
List of Ingredients
- 8 oz self rising flour
- pinch salt
- 1 oz butter
- 1 egg beaten
- 5 oz buttermilk
- milk to glaze
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
- Sift flour and salt.
- Using your fingers incorporate the butter untl it resembles small crumbs.
- Make a well in the center and pour in beaten egg and buttermilk.
- Mix to form a soft dough, adding a little extra buttemilk if necessary.
- Turn out on floured board and roll out to 1 inch thickness.
- Cut into 2 inch rounds.
- Brush with milk and place on a floured baking sheet.
- Bake for 15 -20 minutes until light brown.
