Ginger Apple Upside Down Cake

List of Ingredients
1/4 cup butter (or margarine)
3/4 cup brown sugar firmly packed
3 medium apples
1 pkg (14 oz) gingerbread cake mix
Recipe
Melt butter or margarine in an 8 or 9 inch square baking pan.
add brown sugar and stir until dissolved. Pell and core apples. Cut each apple in half to make two thick rings.
Arrange rings on butter or margarine and sugar mixture.
Prepare cake mix according to package directions. Pour batter over apples.
Bake in 350 degree F. oven for 40 - 45 minutes or until done.
Cool 5 minutes, then turn upside down on serving plate. Serve
warm with whipped cream.
Makes 6 - 8 servings.
