Source of Recipe
I think I got this recipe from a Diane Mott Davidson book.
List of Ingredients
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups water
- 3/4 cup sugar, plus 1 tablepsoon, divided
- 3/4 cup vegetable oil
- 2 packages dry yeast
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 12 cups all purpose flour
- cinnamon
- flour for sprinkling
- brown sugar
Instructions
- Combine milk, water, 3/4 cup sugar and oil.
- Add yeast to 1/2 cup warm water and 1 tablespoon sugar. Combine with milk mixture. Stir and then knead in flour. Knead until dough is smooth and elastic.
- Cover with a clean towel and allow to rise in warm, draft free spot until doubled in bulk.
- Punch down dough and divide in half. Roll dough into 2 rectangles, approxiimately 14 X 16" wide and 1/2 inch thick.
- Sprinkle dough with cinnamon, flour and margerine and brown sugar. Roll up like a jelly roll and cut into slices. Place cut side down in a greased baking pan. Cover with a damp towel and let rise again in a warm place until double in bulk, about 30 minutes.
- Bake in a 375-degree oven, about 30 minutes or until golden brown.
