Cherry Cobbler Bars

List of Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter or margerine, room temperature
- 1 cup confectioners' sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp. freshly grated lemon peel
- 1 can (21 oz.) cherry pie filling
- confectioners' sugar for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 11 X 7 inch baking pan.
- Mix flour and baking powder.
- In a large bowl, beat butter and confectioners' sugar with electric mixer until pale and fluffy. Beat in egg and lemn peel. With mixer on low speed, gradually add flour mixture. Remove 2/3 cup dough. With floured fingers, pat remaining dough over bottom of prepared pan.
- Spread cherry pie filing over dough to edges of pan.
- Roll reserved dough into 1-inch balls. Flatten balls slighy and place , evenly spaced on pie filling.
- Bake 30 minutes or until top is golden brown.
- Cool in pan. Dust with confectioners' sugar before cutting.
