    Cherry Cobbler Bars

    From Woman's Day.


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 1/2 cups flour
    • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    • 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter or margerine, room temperature
    • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
    • 1 large egg
    • 1 tsp. freshly grated lemon peel
    • 1 can (21 oz.) cherry pie filling
    • confectioners' sugar for garnish


    Instructions


    1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 11 X 7 inch baking pan.
    2. Mix flour and baking powder.
    3. In a large bowl, beat butter and confectioners' sugar with electric mixer until pale and fluffy. Beat in egg and lemn peel. With mixer on low speed, gradually add flour mixture. Remove 2/3 cup dough. With floured fingers, pat remaining dough over bottom of prepared pan.
    4. Spread cherry pie filing over dough to edges of pan.
    5. Roll reserved dough into 1-inch balls. Flatten balls slighy and place , evenly spaced on pie filling.
    6. Bake 30 minutes or until top is golden brown.
    7. Cool in pan. Dust with confectioners' sugar before cutting.
