    Beefy Braised Short Ribs

    Can be braised, cooked in crock pot or in the oven.


    List of Ingredients


    • 2 red onions, sliced
    • 5 pounds beef short ribs
    • 1 tablespoon steak seasoning
    • 2 tablespoons canola oil
    • 2 cups low sodium beef broth
    • 1 cup Merlot or other red wine
    • 1 package (.6 oz) au jus gravy mix


    Instructions


    1. Place onions in a 5-quart slow cooker.
    2. Season short ribs with steak seasoning.
    3. In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Working in batches, brown ribs on all sides and transfer to slow cooker.

    4. Stir together broth, wine and au jus gravy mix and pour over short ribs.
    5. Cover; cook on low-heat setting for 8 to 10 hours.
    6. Serve hot or prepare to freeze.
    7. If freezing, cool completely, cover and refrigerate over night. Remove from refrigerator; discard fat layer from the top. Transfer to an airtight container, cover and freeze.
