Mrs. Barrett brought this cake to Daddy when he was sick
List of Ingredients
- 1/2 pound butter
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 3 cups sugar
- 5 eggs
- 3 cups flour plus 3 tablespoons
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk or 1 cup sour cream
- 2 teaspoons vanilla or 1 teaspoon vanilla & 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Instructions
- Cream together the butter and shortening.
- Add sugar slowly and continue creaming until fluffy.
- Add eggs, one at the time.
- Sift dry ingredients together and slowly add alternating with milk or sour cream.
- Add vanilla
- Bake in large bundt pan at 325 degrees for about 80 minutes
- Test for doneness
