    Recipe Introduction


    Mrs. Barrett brought this cake to Daddy when he was sick


    List of Ingredients


    • 1/2 pound butter
    • 1/2 cup shortening
    • 3 cups sugar
    • 5 eggs
    • 3 cups flour plus 3 tablespoons
    • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1 cup milk or 1 cup sour cream
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla or 1 teaspoon vanilla & 1 teaspoon lemon juice


    Instructions


    1. Cream together the butter and shortening.
    2. Add sugar slowly and continue creaming until fluffy.
    3. Add eggs, one at the time.
    4. Sift dry ingredients together and slowly add alternating with milk or sour cream.
    5. Add vanilla
    6. Bake in large bundt pan at 325 degrees for about 80 minutes

    7. Test for doneness
