    This is a nice sweetbread for breakfast or tea. My friend Annie likes to bake this in two 20oz. cans; greased and floured. I use loaf pans! Note: You may omit the nuts!

    List of Ingredients




    1 cup raisins
    1 cup water
    1 egg (beaten)
    3/4 cup sugar
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 cups flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp salt
    1/2 cup nuts (chopped )
    1/4 tsp. baking soda

    Recipe



    Combine the raisins and the water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil; then cool to room temperature. Combine egg, sugar and vanilla; add to raisin mixture. Stir together the flour, soda, baking powder and salt. Add to the raisin mixture and beat well. Stir in nuts (if Using) Bake in 350 degree oven for 50 - 60 minutes.
