    This is one of my favorite Amish goodies.

    List of Ingredients




    2 pkgs. dry yeast
    2 cups warm water
    1/2 cup sugar
    2 tsp. salt
    1 egg
    1/4 cup shortening
    6-7 cups flour
    cinnamon
    nuts & raisins
    Syrup:
    1 stick butter
    2 cups brown sugar
    7 Tbsp. water
    2 tsp. honey
    Combine all of the above ingredients and boil for 2 minutes.

    Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add sugar, salt, egg,shortening & flour. Work till elastic. Let rise in refrigerator, overnight.
    Roll out dough, spread with 2 Tbsp. melted butter and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon ( nuts or raisins if desired) Roll up like a jelly roll. Cut into 1 inch pieces and place in pans on top of syrup. Nuts or raisins may also be added to syrup. Let rise about 1 1/2 hours. Bake 20 minutes at 375 degrees. Makes about 3 dozen
