    GOURMET MINT BROWNIES

    List of Ingredients




    BROWNIES
    8-oz. pkg. cream cheese softened
    1/4cup sugar
    1egg
    1Tsp mint extract
    4drops green food coloring
    1cup margarine or butter
    4oz (4 squares) unsweetened chocolate cut in pieces
    2cups sugar
    2Tsp vanilla
    4eggs
    1to 11/4cups all-purpose or unbleached flour
    FROSTIMG
    2Tbsp margarine or butter
    2Tbsp corn syrup
    2Tbsp water
    2oz (2squares)unsweetened chocolate cut in pieces
    1Tsp vanilla
    1cup powdered sugar

    Recipe



    Heat oven to 350F. Grease and flour 13+9 inch pan. In small bowl, beat cream cheese and 1/4cup sugar until smooth.
    Add egg, mint extract and food coloring; mix well set aside

    In large saucepan, melt 1cup margarine and 4oz. Chocolate over very low heat, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat; cool slightly. Stir in 2cups sugar and 2Tsp vanilla.
    Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
    Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. Stir in flour; well.
    Spread in prepared pan. Carefully spoon prepared cheese filling over brownie mixture.
    Gently cut through layers with knife to marble.
    Bake at 350F for 45 to 50 min or until set.
    Cool completely.

    In heavy saucepan, bring 2Tbsp margarine, corn syrup and water to a rolling boil.
    Remove from heat.
    Add 2oz chocolate; stir until melted.
    Stir in 1Tsp vanilla and enough powdered sugar for desired spreading consistency; beat until smooth.
    Frost cooled bars.
    Cut into bars.
    Store in refrigerator, if desired.
    36 bars.
