    Bread Pudding

    List of Ingredients

    2 c. milk
    1 1/2 c dry bread crumbs
    1/4 c sugar
    1/4 tsp salt
    1 or 2 eggs
    2 tsp vanilla
2 tbsp butter or margarine, melted
    1 c raisins

    Recipe

Use a loaf of day old french bread, tear it up into bite size pieces in the morning, and leave it out all day to get stale/dry.. Use 1 or 2 eggs, depending on how custardy you like your bread pudding. I prefer two. Boil the raisins in 2 cups water for about ten minutes, makes the raisins wonderfully plump and juicy, and not difficult to chew.

Directions: Scald milk, pour over bread, cool. Combine sugar, salt, beaten egg, add to milk and bread. Add vanilla, butter, & raisins, stir gently.

Pour into lightly greased baking dish, set dish in shallow hot water, bake 45 minutes (or longer, top should be a deep golden brown) at 325°. (I'm still trying to figure out the proper cooking time, difficult since I always double the recipe.)

For Christmas breakfast drizzle with a powdered sugar glaze over the top.
