Mom's Pecan Pie
List of Ingredients
2 c whole pecans halves
3/4 c sugar
1 c Karo syrup
1/4 c butter
pinch salt
1 t vanilla
3 eggs, beaten
Melt butter in large saucepan, add other ingredients and stir until combined. Pour into baked pie shell. Bake at
350 ° for 45 - 60 min or until center does not jiggle when lightly shaken. Be sure and cover the crust during baking so it won't burn.
Cold water Pie Crust
3 c flour
1 c shortening
1/2 c ice water (scant)
1 1/2 t salt
Recipe
Cut shortening into flour and salt until blended and looks like coarse cornmeal. Add water and stir with fork until it gets to thick and then finish with hands, until it forms a ball. Do not overwork as it will become tough.
