    Easy Red Velvet Cake

    Recipe Introduction

    There are many of you who will make serving this cake, all-time favorite, a tradition for birthdays and other special occasions.

    List of Ingredients

    1 package Betty Crocker® SuperMoist® German chocolate cake mix
    3/4 cup buttermilk
    1/4 cup water
    1/4 cup vegetable oil
    3 eggs
    1 bottle (1 ounce) red food color
    Cooked White Frosting (below)



    Recipe

    1. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease rectangular pan, 13x9x2 inches.

    2. Beat all ingredients except Cooked White Frosting in large bowl with electric mixer on low speed 30 seconds, scraping bowl occasionally. Beat on medium speed 1 minute, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour into pan.

    3. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Run knife around side of pan to loosen cake. Cool completely, about 1 hour. Frost with Cooked White Frosting.

    Cooked White Frosting


    1 cup milk
    1/3 cup Gold Medal® all-purpose flour
    1 cup butter or margarine, softened
    1 cup powdered sugar
    1 teaspoon vanilla



    Stir milk and flour in 2-quart saucepan until blended. Heat over medium heat until thickened. Cover and refrigerate about 15 minutes or until cool. Beat butter, powdered sugar and vanilla in medium bowl on medium speed until smooth. Gradually beat in flour mixture until blended.





    High Altitude (3500-6500 ft)
    Heat oven to 375°F. Stir 1/4 cup Gold Medal® all-purpose flour into dry cake mix. Increase water to 1/2 cup.
