Creamed Onions

40 small white onions
6 tbsp. butter
6 tbsp. flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. white pepper
3 cups milk
1/2 cup heavy creamRecipe
Put onions in a pan of boiling water for 25 minutes. Remove and peel skin off. Melt butter in a large saucepan, stir in the flour, salt and pepper. Return onions to the saucepan and cook over medium heat for 4 minutes. Remove pan from heat. Gently stir in milk and cream. Stir until well blended. Return pan to heat and bring to boil; stirring constantly until sauce is thick and smooth.
