    MY SOUTHERN FRIED CHICKEN RECIPE

    List of Ingredients


    • 4 chicken breast bone in
    • 4 chicken legs
    • 4 .cups of self rising flour
    • 2 tablespoons of salt (or to taste)
    • 2 tablespoons of pepper (or to taste)
    • 2 tablespoons of tony chachere's original creole seasoning (or to taste)
    • 2 tablespoons of garlic powder (or to taste)
    • 2 packages of cornbread mix
    • 4 eggs beaten
    • 1 - 1/2 cups of butter milk
    • crisco shortening


    Instructions


    1. rinse chicken pat dry and set aside

    2. fill a large deep frying pan with crisco shortening about 1/2 deep

    3. heat on medium heat

    4. combine in a medium size mixing bowl eggs and buttermilk mix well

    5. combine in another medium sized mixing bowl flour and seasonings and cornbread mix mix well

    6. dip chicken in flour mix then

    7. dip chicken in egg mix the back to the flour mix

    8. add chicken to frying pan skin side down

    9. fry chicken until tender and juices run clear

    10. drain on paper towel then place on a serving platter



    Final Comments


    for country gravy save some drippings from the pan add about 1-1 1/2cups of flour fill pan with milk and whisk on high heat until boiling reduce heat and whisk until thickened serve in a gravy dish
