MY SOUTHERN FRIED CHICKEN RECIPE

List of Ingredients
- 4 chicken breast bone in
- 4 chicken legs
- 4 .cups of self rising flour
- 2 tablespoons of salt (or to taste)
- 2 tablespoons of pepper (or to taste)
- 2 tablespoons of tony chachere's original creole seasoning (or to taste)
- 2 tablespoons of garlic powder (or to taste)
- 2 packages of cornbread mix
- 4 eggs beaten
- 1 - 1/2 cups of butter milk
- crisco shortening
Instructions
- rinse chicken pat dry and set aside
- fill a large deep frying pan with crisco shortening about 1/2 deep
- heat on medium heat
- combine in a medium size mixing bowl eggs and buttermilk mix well
- combine in another medium sized mixing bowl flour and seasonings and cornbread mix mix well
- dip chicken in flour mix then
- dip chicken in egg mix the back to the flour mix
- add chicken to frying pan skin side down
- fry chicken until tender and juices run clear
- drain on paper towel then place on a serving platter
Final Comments
for country gravy save some drippings from the pan add about 1-1 1/2cups of flour fill pan with milk and whisk on high heat until boiling reduce heat and whisk until thickened serve in a gravy dish
