Recipe Introduction
This sandwich is delicious!! Use fresh Mozzarella when able. It can be found in the deli/cheese section of most major supermarkets.
List of Ingredients
- 6 slices buttermilk or sourdough sandwich bread
- 1 Tbsp. olive oil
- 15 fresh basil leaves, rinsed and dried
- 2 frim-ripe tomatoes (about 8-oz. total), sliced 1/4 inch thick
- 4 oz. fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced 1/4 inch thick
- salt and pepper
Instructions
- Brush one side of each bread slice with olive oil. Place 3 slices, oil side down, on a 10-by-15-inch baking sheet.
- Layer evenly with basil, tomatoe slices, and mozzarella.
- Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste and top with remaining bread oil side up.
- Broil sandwiches 6 inches from broiler flame turning once, until bread is golden brown and cheese is melted.
