    List of Ingredients


    • 20-25 4 inch cucumbers (or small)
    • 1/8 tsp. powdered alum
    • 1 clove garlic
    • 2 heads dill or 1 good tsp seed
    • 1 hot red pepper or semi-hot
    • 1 quart cider vinegar
    • 1 cup coarse-medium salt
    • 3 quarts water
    • grape leaves (one for each jar, rinsed and patted dry


    Instructions


    1. Wash cukes; let stand in cold water overnight
    2. Pack into hot, sterile jars. To each quart add above amount of alum, garlic, dill, and pepper.
    3. Combine vinegar, salt, and water; heat to a boil, fill jars.
    4. Put grape leaf in each jar and seal.
    5. makes 6 to 8 quarts.
