    List of Ingredients


    • 2 qts. flour
    • 2 tsp baking soda
    • 4 tsp. baking powder
    • 4 eggs
    • 4 cups sugar
    • 1 qt. buttermilk
    • 1 tsp. salt
    • 1/2 cup shortening
    • 2 cups chopped nuts


    Instructions


    1. Sift together, flour, soda, baking powder and salt.
    2. Add nuts, mix well. Beat eggs, add sugar and shortening; gradually beating after each addition.
    3. Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk.
    4. Mix to a smooth batter, but avoid overbeating.
    5. Bake @350 degrees for 1 hr.
    6. Freezes nicely.
