Creme Brulee French Toast

2 T. corn syrup(light or dark)
½ cup butter
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 loaf French bread, thickly sliced & crust-free**
5 eggs
1½ cups Half & Half
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp Grand Marnier or other orange liquor(optional)
1/4 tsp salt
Recipe
In a small saucepan combine syrup, butter, and sugar; simmer until syrupy. Pour into a 9”x13” baking pan that has been sprayed with Pam. Arrange thick bread slices on top of syrup. Lightly whisk remaining ingredients intil blended. Pour over evenly over bread. Let sit overnight covered in the refrigerator. Bake at 350º F for 45 minutes, uncovered. Cut into squares and serve immediatly with maple syrup and butter.
