Cake-Mable Felt's Applesauce Fruit Cake

List of Ingredients



• 1 cup shortening
  
• 2 cups sugar
  
• 3 eggs, beaten
  
• 4 teaspoons baking soda
  
• 1 qt. applesauce
  
• 4 cups flour
  
• 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  
• 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  
• 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  
• 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
  
• 1 cup chopped walnuts
  
• 1 cup raisins
  
• 1 cup dates, chopped
  
• 1 pint mixed candied fruit
  






Instructions



1. cream shortening with sugar. add beaten eggs. Dissolve soda in applesauce. add to the first mixture.
   
   
2. sift dry ingredients together and slowly add to applesauce mixture. Mix well. stir in nuts, raisins, chopped dates and mixed fruit.
   
   
3. Pour into a large pan. (you can use a large tube pan as well) make sure pan is greased and lined with waxed paper.
   
   
4. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour and 20 minutes.
   
   
5. cool completely
