2 cups sugar
2/3 cup evaporated milk
12 regular marshmallows
1/2 cup butter
6 ounces white chocolate, broken into pieces (see note)
1 teaspoon cherry flavored oil or 1 ounce cherry extract
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Red food coloring (optional)
2 cups milk chocolate chips
3/4 cup peanut butter
1 1/4 cup crushed salted peanuts
1 tablespoon butter
Recipe
Butter a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
In large saucepan combine sugar, milk, salt, marshmallows, and 1/2 cup butter. Bring to a boil over medium heat; boil for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.
Add white chocolate, cherry oil or extract, vanilla extract and red food coloring, mixing well. Pour into prepared pan. Set aside.
In 4-cup measuring glass, melt chocolate chips in microwave oven for 1 minute, stirring after 30 seconds. (Be careful not to over heat, chocolate burns easily.) Stir in peanut butter, crushed peanuts and 1 tablespoon butter and mix well. Spread evenly over the cherry mixture.
Chill until firm. Cut into 1-inch squares. Store in cool place.
Note: If available, substitute cherry-flavored chips for the white chocolate chips and cherry flavorings.
