    Williamburg Trifle

    List of Ingredients

    1 Box single Layer Yellow Cake Mix, prepared as directed on box*
    1 16 oz pkg Frozen Strawberries, thawed
    1 Can Ready Serve Vanilla Pudding OR
    Prepared Vanilla Pudding from a box mix
    1 C Chilled Whipping Cream (Heavy Cream)
    1/4 C Sugar
    1/4 C Slivered Almonds, toasted
    5 Whole Strawberries

    Note: This recipe requires being made a day ahead of being served.
    Bake cake in an 8x8 pan; cool and cut into 6 bars. Split each bar horizontally and arrange around sides and bottom of a 2 qt. clear bowl or a trifle bowl**, if you own one.
    Pour 1/2 of the thawed berries over cake. Spread with 1/2 the pudding.
    Repeat process. Cover and chill 8 hours.
    Beat Chilled Cream with sugar until stiff. Spread over trifle, sprinkle with almonds and garnish with whole berries to make a pretty presentation.

    Note: I've been making this since 1973 and it always brings raves. It's definitely an 'ooooo ahhhhh' dessert
    *I have varied it slightly by sometimes adding a small amount of almond extract to the cake batter before baking.
