List of Ingredients
2 quarts apple cider
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
6 cinnamon sticks
10 whole cloves
10 allspice berries
2 t. ground nutmeg
1 vanilla bean, cut in half
1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice, from about 5 large lemon
Juice of 1 orange
1 1/2 litters dry sherry
Recipe
In a large pot, warm the cider over high heat until steam just begins
to rise
from the surface, about 7 minutes. Reduce the heat to medium and add
the
sugar, the spices and the vanilla bean. Simmer for 30 minutes. Using a
long
handled fine mesh strainer, remove the spices from the pot and then add
the fruit
juices and sherry. Find a large bowl, eleven friends, and don't forget
your
scarf!
