    no yeast required

    List of Ingredients




    1 cup sugar
    1 cup sour milk
    1 cup mashed potatoes -- hot
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    5 tablespoons shortening -- melted
    2 eggs -- beaten
    3 1/2 cups flour
    2 teaspoons baking powder
    1 teaspoon soda
    1/4 teaspoon salt

    Recipe



    Dissolve sugar in sour milk; stir in potatoes, vanilla, shortening,
    and eggs. Sift flour, baking powder, soda, and salt together. Add
    to potato mixture; mix thoroughly. Turn out onto lightly floured
    board; roll out 1/4 in. thick. Cut with floured doughnut cutter.
    Fry in deep fat at 350F for about 2 minutes or until well browned;
    drain on absorbent paper.
