1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening (I used margarine, softened)
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup sour cream
1/4 cup milk
2 cups flour
1-1/2 tsp. baking powder
1-1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 cup sugar
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1-1/2 tsp. finely shredded orange peel
Recipe
Cream together the 1 cup sugar and the shortening until light and
fluffy. Add the eggs and vanilla; beat well. Blend in the sour cream and
milk. Stir together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; add to
the creamed mixture. Mix well. Spread 1/4 of the batter into each of
two greased 7x3-inch loaf pans. Combine the remaining sugar, the
cinnamon, and the orange peel. Sprinkle all but
1 TBSP over the batter in the pans. Top with remaining batter. Cut
through batter gently with a knife to make swirling effect with the
cinnamon mixture. Top with the remaining sugar-cinnamon mixture. Bake at 350
for 35 to 40 minutes.
Makes 2 loaves.
NOTE: For one large loaf, bake in a 9x5x3-inch loaf pan for 45 to 50
minutes.
