    Overnight Cinnamon Cream Cheese Strata

    4 large eggs -- lightly beaten
    2 cups milk
    2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
    1/4 cup pure maple syrup
    1 large loaf day-old cinnamon-raisin bread -- cut
    into 18-20
    slices; crusts removed; buttered if desired
    5 ounces cream cheese -- cut into small cubes

    Preliminaries: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter 2 1/2 quart
    casserole or
    souffle dish.
    1. In large bowl, combine lightly beaten eggs, milk, ground cinnamon
    and
    maple syrup.
    2. Place layer of bread in bottom of prepared baking dish.Sprinkle
    with 1/3
    of the cream cheese
    cubes.
    3. Repeat with another layer of bread and another 1/3 of the cream
    cheese
    cubes. Cover with
    layer of bread.
    4. Slowly pour egg mixture over top and sprinkle with remaining cream
    cheese
    cubes. Let strata
    stand at least 1 hour, or cover and refrigerate up to 24 hours.
    5. Set baking sheet on lowest rack of oven to catch any drips and bake
    strata until top is nicely
    browned and bubbly, about 1 hour.
