Apple Butter Layer Cake

3/4 cup margarine, softened
1-1/4 cups sugar
3 eggs
1/2 cup buttermilk
1-1/2 cup apple butter
3 cups flour
1-1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon nutmeg
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon ground cloves
Creamy Vanilla Frosting:
1/2 cup softened margarine
1/4 cup evaporated milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
4 cups powdered sugar
Recipe
For Cake:
Beat softened margarine and sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at
a time. Combine buttermilk and apple butter. Combine dry
ingredients. Add buttermilk mixture alternately with the dry
ingredients, mixing well after each addition. Pour into 2 greased 8-
inch or 9-inch pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes. Remove
from pans immediately and cool on wire racks. Frost with Creamy
Vanilla Frosting.
For Frosting:
Combine frosting ingredients, mixing until smooth and shiny. (Add
more milk if necessary.)
