Grandma Dee's Apple Sauce Cake

List of Ingredients




1 1/2 cups unsweetened applesauce -- cold
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda -- dissolved in
applesauce
1/2 cup shortening
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1 cup raisins -- or nuts
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon vanilla -- or to taste



Recipe



Blend apple sauce and baking soda.

Beat sugar and shortening together until well mixed.

Mix dry ingredients 1/3 at a time into the batter.

Stir in vanilla and raisins or nuts.

Probably bake off in 9x13 pan at 325-350 degrees for 40
minutes, until done
