Layered Strawberry Cake

1 cup half and half
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla
4 eggs
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
3 tsp baking powder
Dash salt
Cream cheese filling ( recipe follows)
1 pint of fresh cleaned and hulled strawberriesRecipe
Cream Cheese Filling
Whip 2 pkgs ( 8 oz each ) cream cheese, room temperature, until very
smooth.
Beat in 1/2 cup powdered sugar and 1 pint whipping cream, whipped,
until
mixture is creamy and fluffy. You may add a few drops of food coloring
if
desired.
Heat half and half in a saucepan until boiling. Add butter. Set aside.
In another bowl, blend sugar, vanilla and eggs. Beat at high speed
until
mixture is very light and fluffy. Use a blender, if available.
Mix flour, baking powder and salt. Add to egg mixture. Add half and
half
with butter.
Pour batter into a well greased and floured springform pan.
Bake at 350 for 55 to 60 minutes or until tester inserted in center
comes
out clean.
Cook slightly. Remove from pan.
Split cake into 3 even layers.
Spread filling in between each layer. Place sliced strawberries on each
layer.
Spread remaining frosting top and sides of cake. Garnish with sliced
strawberries.
