List of Ingredients
1 cup of seedless raisins
1 orange rind and pulp
1 cup of chopped walnuts
2 cups of sifted cake flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of a mixture of cloves, allspice and cinnamon
1/2 cup of shortening
1 cup of sugar
1 egg, well beaten
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1 cup of buttermilk
Confectioners sugar
Recipe
Grind raisins, orange and walnuts together. Sift flour, baking
powder, soda, salt and spices together 3 times. Cream shortening
with sugar until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla and beat thoroughly.
Add dry ingredients and milk alternately in small amounts, beating
well after each addition. Add 1/2 of the fruit mixture. Blend
thorougly. Pour into greased 7" X 3" loaf pan and bake in a 350
degree oven for between 45 and 60 minutes. Combine remainder of
fruit with enough confectioners sugar to make mixture thick enough
to spread. Spread on cooled cake.
