8 apples, peeled, cut into quarters
1/2 C. water
4 envelopes unflavored gelatin
4 C. sugar
1 C. chopped nuts
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 tsp. orange extract
Confectioners' sugar
Recipe
Combine apples with water in 2 quart saucepan.
Simmer until apples are
of the consistency of applesauce. Cool
to room temperature. Soften gelatin in 1 cup
applesauce in small bowl.
Add sugar to remaining applesauce in
saucepan. Bring to a boil. Stir in gelatin mixture until
dissolved.
Boil for 20 minutes, stirring frequently;
remove from heat. Stir in nuts & flavorings. Spoon into
buttered
shallow dish. Let stand overnight. Cut into
pieces; roll in confectioners' sugar.
