    Recipe Introduction

    Yield: 24 bars.

    List of Ingredients

    1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter or regular margarine, softened
    1 tsp maple flavor
    1 egg
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
    1 tsp baking soda
    1/4 tsp salt
    3/4 cup sliced almonds

    Maple Icing
    1 cup powdered sugar
    1/4 tsp maple flavor
    4 to 5 tsp milk

    Recipe

Heat oven to 350 F. In using dark or nonstick pan, heat oven to 325 F.
Lightly grease bottom and sides of a 13 x 9 inch baking dish. Beat
brown sugar, butter, maple extract, and egg in a large bowl using an
electric mixer on medium speed, or mix well using a wooden spoon. Stir in
flour, baking soda, salt, and 1/2 cup sliced almonds. Pat dough in
prepared baking dish with lightly floured fingers. Bake 15 to 20 minutes
or until golden brown. Cool completely, about 45 minutes. Drizzle with
Maple Icing. Sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup sliced almonds. Let
stand for 5 minutes until set. For bars, cut into 6 rows by 4 rows.

    Maple Icing
Mix all the ingredients in a small bowl with a wooden spoon until
smooth and thin enough to drizzle.
