    Woman's Day Christmas Cookie Recipes, Dec. 1961

    List of Ingredients




    1 cup flour -- sifted
    1 cup nuts -- finely chopped
    1/2 cup corn syrup
    1/2 cup shortening
    2/3 cup brown sugar -- packed

    Recipe



    1. Preheat oven to 320°.

    2. Combine the flour and the nuts.

    3. Put the corn syrup, shortening, and the brown sugar in the top of
    a double boiler and bring to a boil over direct heat.

    4. Remove from the heat and gradually stir in the flour and nuts.

    5. Drop batter by teaspoonfuls 3" apart on cookie sheet covered with
    foil. Keep remaining batter warm over boiling water between batches.

    6. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Cool 1 minute and remove cookies from
    foil by gently pulling foil away.
