    List of Ingredients




    8 slices raisin bread
    1/2 cup softened butter
    1/2 cup raisins
    2 teaspoons cinnamon
    1 teaspoon nutmeg
    1/2 cup brown or granulated sugar
    1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    3 cups milk
    4 eggs
    1 cup applesauce -- preferably homemade
    light or whipped cream

    Recipe




    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    Spread bread with butter and sauté on both sides until lightly
    toasted.

    Cut slices into quarters. Fit into a buttered 9 inch X 13 inch baking
    dish.

    Spread applesauce on top. Mix the sugar and spices and sprinkle on
    top,
    then spread the raisins on
    top of the sugar-spice mixture.

    In a separate bowl blend milk, eggs, and vanilla.

    Pour milk mixture over other ingredients in baking dish.

    Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. The pudding should be puffed
    and
    nicely browned.

    Serve warm with light or whipped cream. Serves 6.
