Apple Oat Bars

Yield: 5 1/2 dozen
List of Ingredients
1 c Whole wheat flour
1/2 tsp Baking soda
1/2 tsp Salt
1 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 c Brown sugar; firmly packed
1 1/2 c Rolled oats
1/2 c Melted butter
1 Egg; beaten
1 1/2 tsp Vanilla
1/3 c Chopped walnuts
2 c Peeled & thinly sliced apples
Powdered sugar to sprinkle; optionalRecipe
1. Preheat oven to 350°. Grease a 9" baking pan; set aside.
2. Stir flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon until well blended. Stir
in brown sugar and oats. Mix in butter, egg and vanilla.
3. Put half the dough in bottom of pan. Sprinkle with nuts and arrange
apple slices over top. Sprinkle with remaining dough; press in lightly.
4. Bake 25-30 minutes. Cool in pan. Sprinkle with powdered sugar, if
desired.
