    Mom's Baked Doughnuts

    2 TB shortening
    1/2 cup sugar
    1 egg
    2 cups flour, sifted
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 TB baking powder
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1/2 cup milk
    1/2 cup chopped nuts
    1/4 cup powdered sugar
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 cup butter OR margarine, melted

    Recipe



    Cream shortening, sugar and egg until light and fluffy.

    Sift together flour, salt, baking powder and nutmeg; add alternately
    with
    milk to creamed mixture, mixing well. Dough will be stiff.

    Stir in nuts. Drop a tablespoon of batter into each greased, miniature
    muffin
    cup.

    Bake at 400° F. for 20 minutes.

    Combine powdered sugar and cinnamon in a paper bag. Dip top of
    doughnuts in
    melted butter. Shake 2 to 3 doughnuts at a time in cinnamon and sugar
    mixture.

    Yields about 1 dozen doughnuts.
