2 pkg. yeast
2 Tbsp. vinegar
1 c. scalded milk (cool)
1 c. lukewarm water (add yeast
and let stand)
1/2 c. shortening
2/3 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs, well beaten
1 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
7 c. flour or more
Recipe
Fix yeast in lukewarm water; add 1 tablespoon sugar.
Mix sugar, eggs, shortening and vinegar, then add milk and
dry
ingredients little at time. Knead well, then place in a pan.
Let rise until double. Then roll out small amount of dough
at
a time. Use doughnut cutter. Let doughnuts rise about 45
minutes. Then fry in hot deep fryer. Put them on paper
towels
or drain well. Then dip in doughnut glaze while still warm.
