    Granola recipe

24 cups dry stuff. I take a couple days to chop. It's a good thing to
    do
while watching a movie. Choose from this list, or whatever you like:

I use about 10 cups oatmeal. Can use up to two thirds oatmeal
variety of nuts, chopped. Pecans, walnuts, almonds,
    hazelnuts...whatever you
    have access to
variety of dried fruits, chopped. Apples, raisins, cranberries, pear,
    peach,
    dates, papaya...whatever you like
    wheat germ
shredded coconut...I use a large bag, but I forget what the measurement
    is.
    sesame seeds
M&M's (****If you're adding chocolate, hold it out until after it's
    all
baked and cooled, then mix it in.)

Okay, mix all that up good.

    In a large saucepan, mix:
    1 1/2 cups brown sugar
    1 1/2 cups water
    3/4 cup veggie oil
    1/2 cup honey
    1/2 cup molasses
    1 1/2 teaspoons salt
    2 teaspoons cinnamon
    3 teaspoons vanilla extract

Heat until sugars melt, but do not boil.

I hope you have a huge bowl, 'cause you need to pour this over all that
    dry
stuff and mix well. Then bake at 300F, spread out on cookie sheets,
    for 20 to
30 minutes, or up to 15 minutes longer, if you really want it crunchy.
    Store
    airtight

A batch of this will almost fill one of those big tins popcorn comes in
    at
    Christmas.

    To make it into bars:

    make this syrup:
    1/2 cup dark-brown sugar
    1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/2 nut butter...original recipe calls for peanut butter...I often use
    Nutella
    3 1/2 cups Granola
1/2 cup whole nuts...peanuts or mixed nuts

Butter a 9 inch square pan, set aside
In saucepan, combine brown sugar and corn syrup and bring to a boil
    over
medium heat. Remove from heat, and stir in nut butter until melted.
    Pour over
Granola and nuts, blend well. Press into pan. Let cool, then cut into
    bars

The original recipe was a whole lot sweeter. Hard to believe, isn't
    it!?
I've added a lot of dry stuff. My family carries the bars around for
    when we
miss a meal, at work or school. One bar will fill you up.

I suppose you could cut this recipe, but I never have. It's never gone
    to
waste. You could probably eliminate nuts altogether, and make fruit
    bars out of
    it.
