HOMEMADE HAMBURGER HELPER

2 cups nonfat dry "instant" milk
1 cup cornstarch
1/4 cup chicken or beef bouillion powder or granules
2 TBSP. onion flakes
1 tsp. dried thyme
1 tsp. basil
1 tsp. black pepper
2 TBSP dried parsely
1 TBSP garlic powder
Recipe
Mix ingredients and store in an airtight container.
GROUND BEEF STROGANOFF
Brown 1 lb. ground beef (I use precooked ground beef from my freezer).
Add 2 cups water, 1/2 cup "helper" mix, 2 cups uncooked pasta (elbows,
ruffles, small shells). Bring mixture to a boil, reduce heat, cover and
simmer 15-20 minutes until noodles are tender. Add 1/2 cup sour cream
and serve.
SKILLET LASAGNE
Brown and drain 1 lb. ground beef. Add 1/2 cup "helper" mix, 1 chopped
onion, 2 cups water, 16 oz. tomato sauce, 3 cups dry pasta, 1/4 cup
parmesian cheese. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cover. Simmer 15-20
minutes or until pasta is tender. Top with mozzarella cheese 5 minutes
before serving.
HEARTY POTATO CASSEROLE
Brown 1lb. ground beef and drain. Add 3/4 cup water, 6 peeled potatoes,
sliced thin, 1 cup frozen peas and carrots, 1/2 cup plus 1 TBSP.
"helper" mix. Simmer 20-30 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Stir,
uncovered, until thick.
CHILI TOMATO MAC
Brown 1 lb. ground beef and drain. Add 1 cup water, 1 1/2 cups uncooked
macaroni, 2 (15 oz.) cans chopped tomatoes, 1 TBSP chili powder and 1/2
cup "helper" mix. Simmer covered about 20 minutes or until pasta is
tender.
