List of Ingredients
1-1/2 pounds beef sirloin, cut into 1-inch cubes
4 small white onions
2 garlic cloves
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or several dashes Tabasco sauce
1 tablespoon dark brown sugar
1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
1-1/2 teaspoons curry powder
2 whole cloves
1/2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
3 tablespoons soy sauce
3 tablespoons warm water
PEANUT SATE SAUCE
1/4 cup peanut butter
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons grated onion
1 tablespoon dark brown sugar
1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup coconut milk
Recipe
Grind together the onions and the garlic, using the fine blade of a
food mill or a processor. Place the mixture in a bowl along with the
cayenne pepper or Tabasco sauce, the brown sugar, lime juice, curry
powder, cloves and ginger, then blend in the soy sauce and water.
Add the meat cubes, toss, and marinate them in the refrigerator for
6 hours.
To make the peanut sauce, lightly heat the olive oil in a saucepan
and cook the onion for 5 minutes - do not let it brown. Add the
brown sugar, lime juice, salt and peanut butter, and blend them
well. Add the coconut milk gradually, stirring and cooking the sauce
until it is thick and smooth.
Reserving the marinade, arrange the meat on skewers and broil them 3
inches from the coals for 10 to 15 minutes. Brush the kebabs with
the marinade and turn them often. Serve with the peanut sauce.
