    1 1/2 pounds ground beef
    1/2 cup oats, or bread crumbs, or other 'filler' (optional)
    Salt and pepper to taste

    water for cooking

    hot dog rolls
    assorted toppings

    Recipe



    Mix ground beef, filler, salt and pepper. Shape ground beef mixture into flat 1- by 2- by 6-inch rectangles, slightly larger than the size of the hot dog buns. Place
    the beef rolls in a flat, shallow pan and barely cover them with water.
    Bring to a boil. Simmer, uncovered, at least 40
    minutes. Serve on steamed rolls with desired toppings. Makes about 8 servings.
