Now you have cleaned,and
inventoried your food storage,
figured your ims.
Next is the portable meals...the
meals you make at home to be
eaten away.
Now if you qualify for free or
reduced lunch for kids you may
want to do that.
Brown bagging is the way to go for
kids and adults.
Here is how to calculate portable
ims: if you have 2 people eating
away from home 5 days aweek
then you have 10 ims[2 x5=10] and
1 person eating away from home 3
times aweek [3x1=3] you have 13
ims [10+3=13]
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
Next add home and portable ims
and that is you grand total of ims.
multipy by 30 and that is your
monthly average,
example: 12 ims daily=360 mothly
and
then multipy gran total of
dailymims by 365 for your yearly
amount
example 12 ims daily =4,4380
yearly . This is an exact a mount
as the monthly is only
average,depending on days in
month.

Calculating your food budget
costs.
When we are talking food budget
here...itis just food and nothing
else. Even though your grocery
store shopping may include
paper products, tolietries, etc.
We are only dealing with actul
food costs.
Say you have $ 75 a week to spend on food .Then you have
$300 [4x $75=$300] a month to spend on food a month.
Next multiply your weekly amount of money budgeted for
food by 52 and that is how much
you have a year to spend.
example $75 x 52 =$3900 this is
a $300 difference than if you
multiplied $300 a month x 12
months or $3,600.
the reason there are an average
of 4.3 weeks in a month.
I do mine by the month becaus
eour money comes in monthly, It
us to be $300 but now it is $250
,a $50 a month drop,which really
hurts but that is all we can
afford right now.
So I have $250 a month x 12=
$3000 a year or $600 less than
last year, or about 17 percent
less money for grocries than last
year.
It is much better to figure you
food budget money ona lesser
figure than a bigger one.
If you know for sure you will
have $50 a week for food use
then that figure not a $100 that
might come in. Better safe than
sorry.
This is a down to the gritty
time...be very realistic on what
you do have ,not what you feel
you need.
*****************************
Next take you yearly IMs and
divide them into your yealry
amount of money budgeted for
food.
Example:
We have 4,380 ims and $3000 a
year for food budgeted...that
means we have 68.5 cents a
serving to spend on food per
person.
That means our meals must
average $2.74 cents for 4
people. Ouch it was so
mucheasier with that extra
$50.00 a month.
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
Next take your yearly food
budget total and divide it by 5
[one for each food category and
misc foods]:
example $3000 divided by 5=
$600 per food category.
results
dairy or like products...$600
veggies and fruit $600
meat and like products $600
grain products $600
misc foods $600
