    Recipe Introduction


    I was instroduced to this drink when I came to Texas and was immediately hooked. It's cool, refreshing and pleasantly sweet. A nice change from soda or iced tea.




    List of Ingredients


    • 1 cup uncooked white rice
    • 2 sticks cinnamon
    • 1/4 cup slivered almonds
    • 1 quart water
    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract


    Instructions


    1. Grind rice to a coarse meal in a blender
    2. Mix together rice, cinnamon, almonds and water
    3. Cover loosely and let stand overnight

    4. Purée the rice mixture, then strain through several layers of dampened cheesecloth
    5. Mix in sugar and vanilla extract
    6. Serve ice cold
