    • 2/3 cup sugar
    • 6 tbsp. cornstarch
    • 1/4 tsp. salt
    • 1 cup cold milk
    • 2 &1/2 cups scalded milk
    • 4 egg yolks
    • 1/4 cup cold milk
    • 1 tsp. vanilla


    Instructions


    1. In top of a double boiler mix sugar,cornstarch and salt. Stir in 1 cup cold milk.
    2. Add 2&1/2 cups scalded milk. Cook over boiling water until thick, stirring constantly.
    3. Cover and cook 10 minutes.
    4. Beat egg yolks and 1/4 cup cold milk. Stir in some of the hot mixture into egg yolk mixture then stir back into custard. Cook 1 minute. Add vanilla.
