POUND CAKE
THIS IS FROM MY HUSBAND'S GRANDMOTHER, WHO THEN PASSED IT ON TO HIS MOM AND AUNT WHO SHARED IT WITH US AND NOW I HAVE PASSED IT ON TO MY CHILDREN.
List of Ingredients
- 1 CUP BUTTER
- 1/2 CUP CRISCO
- 3 CUPS SUGAR
- 5 EGGS
- 1 CUP MILK
- 3 CUPS FLOUR
- 1/2 TABLESPOON BAKING POWDER SPOON BAKING POWDER
- 1 TABLESPOON VANILLA
- 1/2 TABLESPOON LEMON
Instructions
- COMBINE BUTTER AND CRISCO.
- ADD SUGAR GRADUALLY AND CREAM.
- BEAT EGGS AND ADD TO SUGAR AND BUTTER.
- MIX FLOUR AND BAKING POWDER AND ADD ALTERNATELY WITH MILK.
- ADD VANILLA AND LEMON.
- GREASE BUT DO NOT FLOUR LOAF PAN, OR TUBE PAN.
- POUR BATTER INTO PAN.
- BAKE 350 DEGREES ABOUT 1 HOUR.
Final Comments
THIS MAKES ONE LARGE TUBE CAKE PAN BUT I USUALLY USE 2 OR 3 LOAF PANS SO I CAN FREEZE SOME AND HAVE THEM WHEN NEEDED. CAN ALSO ADD BLACK WALNUTS TO THE BATTER FOR A SPECIAL TASTE.
