    THIS IS FROM MY HUSBAND'S GRANDMOTHER, WHO THEN PASSED IT ON TO HIS MOM AND AUNT WHO SHARED IT WITH US AND NOW I HAVE PASSED IT ON TO MY CHILDREN.


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 CUP BUTTER
    • 1/2 CUP CRISCO
    • 3 CUPS SUGAR
    • 5 EGGS
    • 1 CUP MILK
    • 3 CUPS FLOUR
    • 1/2 TABLESPOON BAKING POWDER SPOON BAKING POWDER
    • 1 TABLESPOON VANILLA
    • 1/2 TABLESPOON LEMON


    Instructions


    1. COMBINE BUTTER AND CRISCO.
    2. ADD SUGAR GRADUALLY AND CREAM.
    3. BEAT EGGS AND ADD TO SUGAR AND BUTTER.
    4. MIX FLOUR AND BAKING POWDER AND ADD ALTERNATELY WITH MILK.
    5. ADD VANILLA AND LEMON.
    6. GREASE BUT DO NOT FLOUR LOAF PAN, OR TUBE PAN.
    7. POUR BATTER INTO PAN.
    8. BAKE 350 DEGREES ABOUT 1 HOUR.


    Final Comments


    THIS MAKES ONE LARGE TUBE CAKE PAN BUT I USUALLY USE 2 OR 3 LOAF PANS SO I CAN FREEZE SOME AND HAVE THEM WHEN NEEDED. CAN ALSO ADD BLACK WALNUTS TO THE BATTER FOR A SPECIAL TASTE.
