NO FAIL REFRIGERATOR PICKLES
I RECEIVED THIS FROM MY MOTHER-IN-LAW MANY YEARS AGO AND HAVE SHARED IT WITH MANY DURING THE YEARS. MUCH QUICKER AND COOLER WAY TO TEMPORALLY STORE PICKLES.
List of Ingredients
- 6 CUPS THINLY SLICE CUCUMBERS
- 2 CUPS THINLY SLICED ONIONS
- 1 1/2 CUPS SUGAR
- 1 1/2 CYOS VINEGAR
- 1/2 TEASPOON SALT
- 1/2 TEASPOON MUSTARD SEED
- 1/2 TEASPOON CELERY SEED
- 1/2 TEASPOON GROUND TUMERIC
Instructions
- IN A GLASS OR CROCKERY BOWL ALTERNATELY LAYER CUCUMBERS AND ONIONS.
- IN MEDIUM SAUCEPAN COMBINE SUGAR, VINEGAR,SALT,MUSTARD SEED,CELERY SEEDS AND TUMERIC.
- BRING TO BOIL, STIR TIL SUGAR DISSOLVES.
- POUR VIENGAR MIXTUE OVER CUCUMBER MIXTURE, COOL SLIGHTLY.
- COVER TIGHTLY, REFRIGERATE 24 HOURS BEFORE SEVING.
- STORE UP TO ONE MONTH IN REFRIGERATOR.
Final Comments
MAKES 7 CUPS. I OFTEN USE OLD JARS SINCE I DON'T NEED TO HEAT THEM.
